Third graders explored sound this week! They rotated through six stations thinking about how sound was created, what vibrated, and what their evidence was. Their findings were recorded on the clipboards. These third graders had a blast!
The station above is called "Nail It." At this station, these scientists were exploring the varying sounds of nails laid on foam once hit with a wooden striker. In the background, you can see another scientist working at a station called "Spoon" At that station, these scientists used spoons on a string like an elephant's trunk. They hit different surfaces to create sound and feel the vibrations.

These scientists are at the station titled "Straw." They flattened the straw with their lips and blew trying to create sound.

"Head Harp" - These scientists used string around their heads and over their ears to make sound.
|
"Head Harp" - These scientists were trying to see if they could create sound with the string in other ways.

At the station above "Corrugated Tube" scientists created sound by twirling the tube in the air. Look how much fun they're having!
